Star Tours and Travel proudly participated in the Fourth Uganda–Kenya Coast Tourism Conference and Exhibition, held at the elegant Ocean Beach Resort and Spa in Malindi. The event ran under the theme “Leveraging Youth, Innovation, and Technology for Responsive and Inclusive Tourism.”
The conference brought together key tourism stakeholders, innovators, and policymakers from across the region to explore new strategies for growth and sustainability in East Africa’s tourism sector. With over 750 delegates in attendance, the event served as a vital platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and business collaboration.
Empowering Youth Through Innovation and Technology
This year’s theme emphasized the role of young people, creativity, and digital transformation in shaping the future of tourism. Panel discussions and exhibitions showcased digital solutions, youth-driven innovations, and sustainable tourism practices that can help the region remain competitive in a rapidly changing global travel market.
Star Tours and Travel joined other participants in championing the use of technology and innovation to improve travel experiences, promote local destinations, and strengthen cross-border collaborations.
A Call for Regional Collaboration
In his opening remarks, Uganda’s Consul General, Ambassador Paul Mukumbya, underscored the importance of unity and shared vision between Uganda and Kenya in promoting tourism.
“We’re not competing; we’re complementing each other’s strengths,” he said. “Kenya has its beautiful beaches, while Uganda boasts silverback gorillas. Let’s market our unique attractions together and create a richer tourism experience for visitors.”
Ambassador Mukumbya also highlighted the vast opportunities within the tourism industry — from business summits that combine adventure and enterprise, to familiarization trips promoting local agriculture and cuisine, cultural exchanges for skills transfer, and sports tourism for adventure and events. He further emphasized the need for public–private partnerships to enhance industry support and innovation.
Driving a Shared Vision for East African Tourism
Star Tours and Travel’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to regional cooperation, innovation, and youth empowerment within the tourism space. The company believes that by embracing technology and fostering collaboration, the East African tourism industry can unlock new opportunities and provide transformative experiences for both local and international travelers.
As the conference concluded, it was clear that the future of tourism lies in innovation, inclusivity, and partnership — values that Star Tours and Travel continues to champion in all its endeavors.
